Apple recalling Ultracompact USB Power Adapters
(From Apple's news page today)

"Apple has determined that the metal prongs in the new ultracompact Apple USB power adapter can, under certain conditions, break off and remain in a power outlet, creating a risk of electric shock. Because your safety is always our top priority, Apple has therefore decided voluntarily to exchange every ultracompact power adapter for a new redesigned adapter, free of charge. The adapters were supplied with every iPhone 3G (and may also have been purchased separately as an accessory) sold in the U.S., Japan, Canada, Mexico, and several Latin American countries. Click here for complete details."

Have you updated your Mac with a SSD drive?
Looking for Mac owner feedback on SSD (solid state) drives (added now as a category in the drive db). Several months ago Oliver wrote an article here with Comparison tests of a 32GB SSD vs 10K RPM HDs (32GB MemoRight GT SSD vs WD Raptor and WD VelociRaptor) and there's been a few SSD Express34 card reports (in general disappointing performance) on the MacBook Pro/ExpressCards page, but always looking for later feedback from anyone that's updated their mac (especially notebooks) with an SSD drive. If you have, send a report with details and how happy you are with it. Thanks.

Another G5 Coolant Leak Repair covered out of warranty
I've added another reader's notes on getting a leak repaired (out of warranty) at no cost to the PowerMac G5 Coolant Leaks/Repairs page. After seeing system/shut down problems, a visual inspection inside (and tilting the case) showed coolant leaking. Initially he was told it was out of warranty (repairs at his cost) but after mentioning these are potential safety issues he was transferred to a senior support person who gave him a "customer satisfaction number" to have it repaired at a local Apple store.
