New MacBook Pro GPU Switching (hardware supports both active/on-the-fly switch?)
When the new (late 2008) MacBook Pros were announced, I had a reader ask if it was possible to simultaneously run both GPUs - for example use the 9400M for internal display and 9600M GT for external display. Currently Apple requires you to switch the GPU used via Energy Saver settings with a required logout/re-login. (Ref: this apple doc.) I wasn't sure if that limitation was software or hardware related but a recent story at gizmodo says it's just a current software limitation - see Confirmed: Apple Can Enable Dual GPU and On-the-Fly Switching in MacBook Pro.

Apple doc with Late 2008 MacBook Migration Tips and Tricks
Some new MacBook owners (late 2008 model w/o FW port) have asked about migrating from their previous models (normally done via Firewire). Apple has a doc with tips on doing this via Ethernet or Wireless - see MacBook (Late 2008) and MacBook Pro (Late 2008): Migration Tips and Tricks.
New Macbook Pros still have a FW800 port and there are low-cost cables for FW800/400 for those that need a FW400 connection. (Although these cables are rare to find in stores, OWC has several lengths of FW800 to FW400 cables from appx $9.)
