Using CHUD Tools to disable Nap mode was a popular tip to stop some PowerMac G5 noises. (Nap mode resets after a restart however.)

(the logging version of the IOUSBFamily kernel extension).

| GameRanger Adds In-Game Voice Communication |
| Scott Kevil sent a press release (dated oct 10th) announcing the addition of in-game voice communication to GameRanger, the popular Macintosh multiplayer online gaming service. Here's a clip from the PR:
"
The in-game voice communication is available right now for Premium
GameRanger members. No complicated setup or external program is required, and it works transparently with most routers without needing confusing port mapping procedures.
Undoubtably the best part of the in-game voice communication is
automatic team channels for supported games. You can choose to send your voice just to your team mates, or to everyone. You can even choose the stereo location for voice channels you receive (for example, the All channel on the left, the Team channel on the right). Additionally, you can select the output device that all received voice should come from, allowing you to have voice come from your headset, and game sounds from your speakers.
... In-game voice communication currently requires Mac OS X.

You can find full owner reports (latest shown first) by searching the database by drive/brand/interface/mac models (the latest reports are shown first in searches).
For guides to installing CD/CDRW/DVD drives or Hard drives in many mac models, see the IDE Articles page. The Firewire articles page also has guides on case kits, installing drives, etc. If you've added a IDE, SCSI, Firewire or USB hard drive, CDRW, tape drive, etc. make sure you add a report to the database. (If you post an updated entry - make sure you use the same name, etc. as you did before so I can find your past entry. Thanks.)
(Incomplete entries are deleted. Do not post questions in the database, it's for drive reports not questions on what drive to buy - for that try searching the database for reports from owners of your mac model on the drive type/brand/interface, etc. you're interested in.)
