Using CHUD Tools to disable Nap mode was a popular tip to stop some PowerMac G5 noises. (Nap mode resets after a restart however.)

Apple's ADC mail list also notes they've updated the Mac OS X USB Debug Kit (the logging version of the IOUSBFamily kernel extension).
