| Intel to launch new 8-core (45nm) and 6-core (32nm) Nehalems this month |
Yahoo/PCW is reporting Intel will Launch Eight-core Nehalem-EX This Month, which is targeted at high end 4-socket servers. No clock speeds were mentioned but these CPUs have 24MB of cache and 2.3 billion transistors. They'll also have separate buffered memory chips, 4 channel memory support and of course quad Quickpoint Interconnect (QPI).
Also shipping later this month are new 32nm (IIRC originally called "Nehalem-C") Westmere-EP 6-core CPUs w/12MB cache offering (potentially) higher performance/lower power use than previous quad-core Xeons. (The next gen Mac Pro is expected to use 6-core CPUs, replacing the current model's 45nm 4-core Xeon 3500 (SP) series and 5500 (DP) series.) BTW - Here's an article I linked to back in early Feb with notes on the new 6 Core Westmere (codename Gulftown), long rumored to be in the next-gen Mac Pro.

| iPad available in US on April 3rd, Pre-Order on March 12th |
| Apple posted a press release today regarding the iPad Available in US on April 3. Here's a clip from the intro:
"Apple® today announced that its magical and revolutionary iPad will be available in the US on Saturday, April 3, for Wi-Fi models and in late April for Wi-Fi + 3G models. In addition, all models of iPad will be available in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK in late April.
Beginning a week from today, on March 12, US customers can pre-order both Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G models from Apple's online store (www.apple.com) or reserve a Wi-Fi model to pick up on Saturday, April 3, at an Apple retail store...."
