MacBook Pro (Nvidia 8600M) GPU Failures/Repairs/Tips page updated
I've added another report to the previous page on Nvidia 8600M GPU/Video Failures/Repairs/Tips. (Ref: Apple's extended GPU warranty for affected MacBook Pro models - If the ext. drive GPU diagnostics test flags it as a qualifying GPU failure...)
The latest report is another example of where a first test didn't show it was a covered failure, but a 2nd test did. (There have been so many of these I wonder if there's more than one rev/version of the test/diagnostics app out there...)

Tip/Fix for PDFs that cause iPad Reader Apps to Quit
(See below for a fix/workaround)
A friend asked if I'd post this. I suggested he search the apps store for reviews on other PDF readers, but he's looking for someone running another PDF reader to test a specific PDF file that is repeatedly crashing with GoodReader on his iPad before buying another app that might do the same thing. (I also suggested he contact the GR dev about the crashes - perhaps they could fix that in a future update.)
For example, he says GoodReader repeatedly crashes (quits) when trying to display page 15 of this PDF (and some others, this is just one sample PDF that had the problem) - 305BDC6500_DL.PDF (It's the Samsung BD-C6500 PDF users manual - 6.8MB).
If you're using a PDF reader on an iPad that does not crash when displaying page 15 of this PDF, let me know. Thanks.
FYI: The above isn't the only PDF he's seen this problem with (on certain pages of PDFs only - not all pages of the same PDF) - but several iPad owners have written they see the same crash on that page (and some others). One reader noted the same crash with several other apps - Air sharing from Avatron, Simply PDF and Presenter. ReaddleDocs for iPad also had problems with it. So not sure if any reader app will work with all PDFs (and again it's only certain pages that are the issue).

Workaround: Two readers noted a workaround is to save the PDF to a Mac and then do a Print w/Save As PDF from OS X's Preview, then copy it to the iPad. They said this fixed the crashing seen on some pages with original D/L PDF in GoodReader and other reader apps. (One reader said simply doing a Save As worked.)
I know he was hoping for a reader that didn't require that, but not sure there is one.
