Test App for Higher res iSight in Santa Rosa MacBook Pros
Follow-up from Justin on the iSight in the new MacBook Pros:

" it turns out the (new santa rosa) MacBook Pros's have a larger (higher res) and newer iSight.
just tried the demo app... and it really is amazing.. the camera quality is astonishingly high for the small built-in iSight
New MacBook Pros == New 1.3 MP Camera Sensor
-Justin "

The linked page notes the iSight is 1280x1024 vs 640x480 res in previous models and comments on new features supported (VDSetBrightness, VDSetContrast, etc.). They say currently iChat and Photo booth don't request a larger than 640x480 image so they wrote their own test program.

Apple posts MacBook Pro (2.2/2.4GHz) Software Update 1.0
(Updated - see below for reader notes)

"About MacBook Pro Software Update 1.0
This update provides important bug fixes and is recommended for all 2.2/2.4GHz MacBook Pro models. This update requires Mac OS X 10.4.9 or later."

I don't own a new MacBook Pro to try this but a reader replied:

"MacBook Pro Software Update 1.0 is really videocard drivers and opengl updates. I looked into the receipt pkg for the "MacBook Pro Software Update 1.0 for all 2.2/2.4GHz MacBook Pro" , and it looks like it updates all videocard drivers, opengl frameworks, and libraries.
Why apple does not state this in the update info is rather strange.
Just thought I would let you know...
(I asked if he had seen any problems/quirks previously and/or any benefit from the update.)
so far I have not noticed any difference between before and after, but I have not tested any games or anything that utilizes opengl to any extent.
If its a big update, then it would warrant looking further into but then again if it was a big update, apple would have said something.
-Justin"
