Tied up today with more important things personally (like getting some 'iHeat" working after 2 days w/o any) but as I'm sure you already know, here's the new Apple iPad product page (w/video demo and Keynote video). Has a 9.7in (1024x768) LED backlit IPS display w/multi-touch screen, 1GHz custom (PA Semi) "A4" processor, 1.5lbs, 1/2in thick, speaker and mic (no built-in camera), Wifi (802.11n/a/b/g), Bluetooth 2.1, and Optional 3G. (See Tech specs for full details, notes on GPS, Language support, video modes supported, etc.)
Up to 10 hrs battery runtime claimed. Runs most apps on App Store (either at original rez or pixel doubled), plus new gen apps coming (new SDK released today) and Bookstore.
Sync requirements: USB 2.0 port, iTunes 9 (w/iTunes store acct), OS X 10.5.8 or later (PCs - Windows XP/Vista/7). iPad Pricing: 16GB $499, 32GB $599, 64GB $699 - add $130 for the 3G models. (All unlocked, uses new GMS micro SIM) Est. Shipping in 60 days, 90 days for 3G models. Accessories mentioned were a Dock, Keyboard dock and Case. Per blog posts of the event - Two 3G plans (AT&T): $14.99 for up to 250 MB per month, Unlimited $29.99 (w/no contract supposedly).
I'll probably wait for the 2nd (or 3rd) revision which hopefully will have a camera, USB 3.0 port and more storage. (Maybe I'm in the minority but I'd have preferred a name like the apple 'Slate' (not iSlate) to iPad, but realize the latter fits in with their iPod, iPhone, etc. naming...) |
