| Western Digital 1TB SATA Notebook drives (finally) to be available soon? |
I won't rehash all the past posts (since WD's original press release last July) regarding the 1TB 2.5in SATA WD Scorpio drive, but after about 6 months of checking the WD online store page (which as of tonight still doesn't list even the 750GB scorpio), some dealers are now listing the 1TB SATA Scorpio as available "soon".
I've not gone back to check old info but a reader (thanks David) noted the 1TB's model number has changed from the original WD10TEVT to WD10TPVT. (The 1TB and other models are listed on the WD Scorpio Blue product page.)
(For those that missed it, some related high-capacity notebook drive articles from the last 6 months are linked down the list here and here). |

| Hardware Monitor/Temperature Monitor utilities updated (w/27in iMac support, more) |
| Here's the change list for Hardware Monitor 4.85. (Some items like 27in iMac support common to other updates below, but see linked change list for details on them.)
"Release 4.85 (Build 100208)
Added support for the iMac 27".
Added new feature to support configurable output on graphical liquid crystal displays found on Logitech products, for example the G15 keyboard. (I'd asked him last November (ref: my article on 2009 Mac Pro CPU temps w/OS X audio playback) about supporting these - I have a G15 keyboard (and G13 keypad)-Mike)
Added new feature to import and export definitions of artificial sensors (probes) using files.
Added a feature to detect defective device drivers on non-Apple systems which might send invalid readings to the application.
The new version contains a workaround for the problem that Mac OS X Snow Leopard may record a warning message in the system log regarding the sensor driver for Intel CPUs when shutting the operating system down.
Added new sections to the chapter Frequently Asked Questions of the reference manual regarding Intel Core i series processors.
Corrected a problem where the date of manufacture of specific Apple computers was displayed incorrectly when launching the program after January 1, 2010.
