This unlimited service is available for as low as $9.17 per month!
And lower rates for our 150 Hour per month service, now less than $8 per month!
Both the Unlimited and 150 Hour limited nationwide services provide 5 @FasterMac.net email accounts, 10 Megs Webhosting, Virus Blocking, and user customizable Anti-Spam services.
Use any number, no 'roaming' fees.
And - also debuting - our new 'Refer a Friend' program. For Each new user that an existing FasterMac.Net customer refers, we'll credit 1 free month of service the the referrer. Doesn't matter which service the referrer has or what service the new customer signs up for - the free month is credited after the new referred customer completes his/her third month of FasterMac.net service.
Pretty darn good stuff. :)
Best Regards,

| Comments on next update to M-Audio Revolution 7.1 OS X Drivers |
(from a reader mail yesterday)
"
Here's an update from what I got from the M-audio tech help.
Andy M.
(I asked Andy to clarify what he had written them about since it was not regarding the kernel panic issues some other readers noted w/v1.2.8 drivers)
It was mostly about the lack of surround channels in Panther (I could
only get them to do anything in VLC, no other programs would make them
play anything, including the option to use the artificial surround
sound for stereo sources). Curiously, I tried cleaning my system of all
M-Audio files and reinstalled the 1.2.8 update, and I haven't had any
kernel panics yet, but it took away the surround abilities.
Andy
(copy of M-Audio reply follows:)
"Hello Andrew,
Our developers and testing team are actually looking into this.
We were really hoping that Panther and Apple's DVD Player would support this and from what we understood it should have.
The 1.2.8 drivers were pulled for a couple of minor adjustments and also it was intended for the Panther users and Jaguar use[r]s were installing it and were no longer able to use their VLC players.
(the 1.2.8 driver update noted VLC support was dropped - here's a direct quote on that:)
"Please note, however, that we NO LONGER SUPPORT VLC as Apple has added direct AC3 support to dvdplayer in 10.3 (which is what we now support and is supported in this version)"
So we are sorting all of that out and there should be an updated driver up shortly. We appreciate your understanding and support in this matter.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

| Rate Your CPU Upgrade Reports Database Updated |
| The Rate Your CPU Upgrade database has been updated with 2 new reports this morning (reader entries Yesterday; entries today are added the next newsday morning). Total to date: 8,934. Here's a summary of the update added today (search by brand/mac model for full reports - latest reports always shown first):

(Warning - Overclocking may not be reliable and could lead to hardware failure or corrupted data.) You can find the full reports by searching the database selecting the indicated Mac model and upgrade card brand/type. If you've upgraded the CPU on your Mac, please post an entry in the database. Search the database for entries from most every upgradable Mac model *before* you buy. (Searchable by mac model/upgrade brand). For detailed reviews with performance tests and install tips, see the CPU Upgrades page.)

| CDRW/CD/DVD/Hard Drive/Cardreader Compatibility Database Update Listing |
| The Drive Compatibility Database had 7 new reports added (reader entries from Yesterday; entries today are added the next newsday morning). The database includes reports on Combo DVD-CDRW, CDROMs, DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, DVD-R, CDRW, Hard Drives and Removables (tape drive, ORB, ZIP, MO drives, CF/Smartmedia readers, etc.) in all interface types (IDE, IDE RAID cards, Firewire, SCSI, adapters). Current total 11,863 reports. (searching by drive type/brand, mac model etc. listed below will show the full reports, most recent first)
Combo DVD+CDR Drives:
- IDE LG GCC-4520B (52x24x52x + 16x DVD-ROM) in G4/AGP (OS X 10.3)
(using modified burn support mods - LG 4480B (48x rated combo drive) model is natively supported in 10.2.8 and later)
- IDE Toshiba SD-R1312 (32x10x40x +12x DVD-ROM) (oem pull from MDD G4) in B&W G3 (OS X 10.3) (only bootable from CD using startup disk control panel)
DVD+R/RW + DVD-R/RW Drives:

- Firewire Sony DRU-510A used w/Dual G4 (OS X 10.3)
(no native burn support)
- IDE Pioneer DVR-106 in Dual G4 DDR (OS X 10.3)
(noted kernel panics - I suspect drive spindown/sleep related)
- IDE Pioneer DVR-106 in Dual G4 DDR (OS X 10.3)
(native burn support in 10.2.8 and later)
- IDE Pioneer DVR-106 in G4/AGP (OS X 10.3)
(Illustrated CD drive install guide here covers G4 towers up to the Digital Audio Model, Beige G3 MT and B&W G3 Macs)
You can find full owner reports (latest shown first) by searching the database by drive/brand/interface/mac models (the latest reports are shown first in searches).
For guides to installing CD/CDRW/DVD drives or Hard drives in many mac models, see the IDE Articles page. The Firewire articles page also has guides on case kits, installing drives, etc. If you've added a IDE, SCSI, Firewire or USB hard drive, CDRW, tape drive, etc. make sure you add a report to the database. (If you post an updated entry - make sure you use the same name, etc. as you did before so I can find your past entry. Thanks.)
(Incomplete entries are deleted. Do not post questions in the database, it's for drive reports not questions on what drive to buy - for that try searching the database for reports from owners of your mac model on the drive type/brand/interface, etc. you're interested in.)
