| Opinion - Good $25 (list) Travel/Carry case for the iPad |
(I almost hesitate posting this since iPad case opinions have been beaten to death.-Mike)
Like many folks, I had sticker shock initially on iPad cases. Almost all were $39.95 or higher (even a literal "Sock" 'designed for iPad' was $39.95?!). And some rubber cases were nearly $50 (i.e. Belkin Grip series), although NewerTech's NuGuard rubber covers are only $17.99, they're the exception not the rule it seems.
Anyway, despite the material used (which skuffs easily, attracts dirt) and the fact it can easily tip over in 'stand' mode - I personally still like the Apple iPad case in general. (Many don't as shown in Apple's store item owner reviews and OWC's blog has an article Love it or Hate it - Apple iPad Case with mixed opinions as well.)
But I also wanted a "carry case" for it, nothing fancy - just good protection and a carry handle. And I found what I consider a great choice at a local Office Depot (last one they had locally) - the $24.98 (list I assume) Samsonite Netbook case (for up to 10.2in screens) model no. 938390. I had the iPad w/Apple case on it with me to try in the store before buying and the fit IMHO is great. It has good protection (padding), a velcro pocket on the backside, 2 zippered pockets on the front, a carry handle and included a clip-on shoulder strap (which I doubt I'll ever use). It's not fancy but for the price I think it's a great choice and value IMHO.
(BTW - the material on the Apple iPad case reminds me of what's on the Microsoft Arc mouse - I can't swear that it is personally but if so I have cleaned the Arc mouse surface (of oils from finger contact, etc.) using a common household item but don't want to mention it until I've actually tried it on the Apple iPad case. When/if I get a chance to do that I'll post a note if it works well.-Mike)
