| New MacBook Pros are out! (Core i7/i5 CPUs, new Graphics, 512GB SSD Options) |
As expected, Apple has launched new MacBook Pros with Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs (on 15in/17in models), new Graphics (up to GT330M/512MB - auto switching on models with Intel HD + Discrete GPU), and up to (claimed) 10-hr battery life on the 13in (C2D), 8-9 hours for the (Core i5/i7) 15in/17in models. The auto-switching is not Nvidia's Optimus, but Apple's design. The tech specs page has a summary of features by model. (I was hoping for HDMI (vs MDP) video out and USB 3.0 ports, but it didn't happen.)
(BTW - here's Nvidia's Geforce 330M page. I didn't see a 320M model on their Mobile Geforce GPUs page, although they do list a 325M.)
The Apple Store already has the new models available now.
Also new is a 512GB SSD option - a $1300 upgrade from 500GB HDs, $1400/$1450 upgrade from 250/320GB HDs.
