Benchmark tests were run in MacBench 5.0 with a full set of extensions. LibMoto was not included for reasons that have been covered previously on XLR8yourMac. Additionally LibMoto conflicts with one of the applications reviewed, MacSpartan. Tests were run with a disk cache of 8160 K, and a backside cache setting of 2:1. The card would not run at 1.5:1 as would cards from the previous review. Graphics were run in 32 bit depth (millions of colors) at 1152 x 870.
MacBench 5.0 Performance
One can easily see why owners of machines with a significant investment in memory, SCSI devices, etc.. would like the 466 cards. These cards will especially appeal to owners of 6 slot PCI machines as they are the ones most likely to have significant amounts of cash invested in add-ons. Benchmarks are often easy to find, so on the next page you will find tests on real world performance with number of applications. In these tests the disk performance does not increase as much as one would expect going from the 604e to the G3 due to the Ultra2 card disk subsystem already performing at a high level.
